There are always questions that need answering, guidelines that need placing, things like that. The following is the attempt at answering them before they're asked.

If you have a question ask it here.

So, what exactly is the premise here?
Mosaic is a panfandom RP set in an alternate dimension of sorts. Characters are being pulled from their respective locations and in to what starts off as a somewhat odd small town surrounded by a sprawling wasteland.

Is your character going to try and find a way home? Are they going to settle down in the City and make a new life for themselves? Will they try to take it over and run in themselves? Are they going to try to find out what's going on here and who is in charge?

What's with the Book?
A book is found in the room of your arrival, it is the somewhat odd means of communication between whoever is leaving the helpful notes found throughout the city and your character. Special information sometimes finds it's way on to the pages, and other times a message will be given directly to your character through it. There is also a map in it with a drawing of the ever changing city so you don't get lost.

Sadly, writing in the book yourself doesn't seem to get much of a response. Though it is a good way of keeping track of things.( mosaicbook )

What do the different colors on the mod user icons mean?
Blue= mod duties, information, etc.
Red= NPCs for stores, not important to the story
Gold= special story-involving events/NPCs
Green-ish= important updates
Purple= NPC encounter, may be anything including papers, artifacts, etc.
*more colors may be added, there will be an update with the color and it's use here when that happens

What's with the random buildings/places showing up?
That's simple! As more characters come to the city, parts of their worlds come too. The city is growing and it needs more buildings and locations.

The best part? They're added at your suggestion! Though some things are simply too big or too complicated to bring over, like Hogwarts Castle or the Justice Leauge Headquarters. Something like a Shop from Diagon alley or Batman's Cave would be fine. Things like monuments and that are also able to be taken in to the City. (Any shops that are brought over don't have their original owners, they're run by the NPC shopkeepers until a character takes it over.)

1) Why do we only get one animal/creature with us? My pokemon trainer keeps six!
Answer: Sorry, but we have to keep things fair to those who don't have companions. You can always ask if you can get them pulled in later.

2) Can I apply a non-human character like a transformer or a wolf?
Answer: Your characters have to have opposable thumbs and be able to turn the pages in a book without ripping them to shreds. The ability to speak or otherwise communicate with a human being is also necessary.

3) What's the stance on sexuality of a character?
Answer: Keep it in character. That's all.

4) How long can a hiatus last?
Answer: Three weeks, unless you contact a mod.

5) Are there activity checks?
Answer: Every two months, or whenever the mods call for one.

6) I think someone is being out of character/godmoding/metagaming, what do I do?
Answer: FIRST, take it to them privately. Maybe something happened with that character before you joined. Sometimes being nice and honest with someone is the best bet. If you don't feel comfortable, or this doesn't work, ask a mod.

7) Can I app for a character that's already taken? (Cloud from Kingdom Hearts when there's already one from Final Fantasy 7)
Answer: Yes. Due to wibbly-wobbly timey wimey stuff, you may. Ask the player who's already got the character first though.

8) Is there a character limit? How many from the same canon can we play?
Answer: As it stands right now there's a two character limit (There will be an announcement if/when that changes). If you do want to play from the same canon, that's fine but you may only play two characters from the same canon. It's also preferred that you avoid self logs as much as possible when you do.

Is there any chance we could have a requested characters list?

You should also answer bittering's question. >_>

Sorry about that, I got bombarded by life.
Of course, the request list is there.

The answer is #8

Are OCs allowed?

Just curious, please and thank you!
mosaicmod on February 21st, 2010 09:49 am (UTC)
Well thought out OC's are MORE than welcome (though it would be preferred if they came from their own universe, FandomOC's are alright.) and there's even an app for them already!

Hope that answers your question.

hello again! (too lazy to change ids)
Maybe I missed something, but...

How does one communicate to the other denizens?

Hey, this is the mod
Sadly, I think this game is somewhat officially dead.

There's been little to no interest in the past three months, however most of the players and myself can be found at underworldwars. It accepts both original and canon characters, and we'd be thrilled to have you join us there.

Sorry about this game dying before you got to join.

Erm. I didn't see a suggestions post or anything so...I figure here is okay?

I was wondering if there was a tag system. If not, may I suggest the [Fandom]: Character Name system? Once we get more players, it'll make it veeery helpful in the future. XD

This is the sort of "catch all" place, and thanks for reminding me about that. I sort of fail at times.

Yes, that sounds like a good system to use.
